Dr. Chris Dewey is the chief instructor of the Starkville Martial Arts Academy and has been training in martial arts since 1968. He is a nationally certified coach and holds 7th degree black belt in Akayama-Ryu Ju Jitsu, 6th degree black belt rank in Judo, 3rd degree black belt rank in Hapkido and 4th degree in Taekwondo. Dr. Dewey is certified by Akayama-Ryu Jujitsu, the United States Judo Association, the United States Moo Sul Kwan, Independent Taekwondo Association, the American council on Martial Arts and the American Sports Education Program. He is also a member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists, past chair of the USJA National Coaching Committee, faculty member of the the National School Support Network for NAPMA and a monthly featured columnist in Martial Arts Professional Magazine.
After nearly 40 years of martial arts training, Dr. Chris Dewey received seventh degree black belt in the Akayama Ryu style Ju Jitsu.  This rank was awarded by Mark Barlow and Richard Worthington at the Akayama Ryu summer camp in Jacksonville, AL on July 21st.   Dr. Dewey was recognized and awarded for both his dedication to and ability in Ju Jitsu.
